Free Food Distribution
According to the Houston Health Department, 23.3% of the people in Houston/ Harris county do not have access to food. Almost 1 in 4 children are food insecure. Since COVID-19, food insecurity has jumped to 24.4%. We combat the situation by organizing a Free Food Distribution program twice every month. The program began to address the hunger insecurity in the Greater Houston Area and so far serves over 500 families every month. Free Food Distribution is initiated with complete support from Houston Food Bank. Vegetables, fruits, dairy, meat, and packaged foods are distributed to families in an attempt that they get healthy and balanced meals. India House’s Charity Volunteer Medical Clinic provides access to general checkup and health care to low-income people. We provide the following services:- General check-ups,

Family and Immigration Law
India House offers free consultations in the areas of immigration and family law. Anyone who is looking to gain knowledge on this area can get their queries answered through teleconsultations. Immigration Law India House in association with Willy, Nanayakkara & Associates provides the first free consultation on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month between 12:30pm – 2:00pm. Legal experts from Willy, Nanayakkara & Associates volunteer their time to provide legal advice. Teleconsultations are available by appointment only. Their areas of specialization include: immigration, employment, naturalization, relative petition, asylum and business related issues. Family Law As far as Family law is concerned, PUVVADA Law Office volunteers their services at India House on every Monday between 4:00 pm- 5:00 pm and provides assistance via tele consultation. The first consultation is available for free and appointment can be scheduled by calling India House. Every 3rd Wednesday | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM India House, in collaboration with the Share Our Secrets (SOS) Organization, offers Free Women’s Financial Literacy Classes. This is a monthly initiative designed to strengthen financial literacy among women. The classes are held the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, each of the sessions is designed to empower women with the knowledge and essential tools they need in order to make financial decisions independently, especially after their retirement. Retirees often face difficulty in managing finances especially when they don’t have much guidance. These sessions offered at India House focus on women’s financial literacy while supporting the participants to tackle real-life challenges like basic investments, retirement planning, budgeting, and more. These free classes create a welcoming space for women to ask those financial questions they've been hesitant to raise, and get answers in an open and supportive environment. Improving financial literacy among women is highly essential. These classes are thoughtfully designed to address the key financial concerns women could face, whether single, married, working, or retired. Sareen Harris Health Medical Clinic offers medical community service in Houston at affordable charges. Harris Health established its services at India House premises in 2014. The clinic began to provide essential healthcare services to patients who are unemployed or do not have access to medical insurance. Click here to know more about Harris Health. Medical issues like minor rashes, sinus pain or pressure, sore throat, headaches/migraines, urinary tract issues, diarrhea, etc. are addressed at the clinic.
