Our mission is to unite cultures, create bridges, and help the community by bringing resources, education, services, and Indian culture to Houstonians. In order to support community service in Houston we offer an array of free programs and services including cultural, language learning, education, immigration, medical, legal, and recreational activities. The Indo-American community of India House provides free community service programs to everyone in the community, irrespective of race, religion, gender, or age. Free Food Distribution

According to the Houston Health Department, 23.3% of the people in Houston/ Harris county do not have access to food. Almost 1 in 4 children are food insecure. Since COVID-19, food insecurity has jumped to 24.4%. We combat the situation by organizing a Free Food Distribution program twice every month. The program began to address the hunger insecurity in the Greater Houston Area and so far serves over 500 families every month. Free Food Distribution is initiated with complete support from Houston Food Bank. Vegetables, fruits, dairy, meat, and packaged foods are distributed to families in an attempt that they get healthy and balanced meals. Food is given regardless of race, citizenship, national origin, social or economic status. Our intent is that no individual should go hungry. This is one of our key community Service Programs in Houston.

Virendra Mathur Medical Clinic

India House’s Charity Volunteer Medical Clinic provides access to general checkup and health care to low-income people. We provide the following services:

General check-ups,
Lab testing,
Prescription refills,
Glucose checks,
EKGs,
Blood pressure checks, and
OB-GYN services.

Access to healthcare is important for health and we are providing it with the support of our charity clinic. Virendra Mathur Medical Clinic is an affordable medical community service in Houston established to provide essential healthcare services to the patients. It is one of our popular free programs and services in Houston. Any patient who does not have access to insurance can avail this free medical community service in Houston on every Saturday between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm CST by appointments. The team of experienced doctors who are also members of India House sponsor and volunteer this medical service by offering free health checkups to the patients. Services at the clinic are available by appointment. Different facilities under the umbrella of free medical community service are available. Referrals are done in case special consultation is needed. The clinic is open to everyone and has been serving the community relentlessly.

Family and Immigration Law

India House offers free consultations in the areas of immigration and family law. Anyone who is looking to gain knowledge on this area can get their queries answered through teleconsultations.

Immigration Law

India House in association with Willy, Nanayakkara & Associates provides the first free consultation on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month between 12:30pm – 2:00pm. Legal experts from Willy, Nanayakkara & Associates volunteer their time to provide legal advice. Teleconsultations are available by appointment only. Their areas of specialization include: immigration, employment, naturalization, relative petition, asylum and business related issues.

Family Law

As far as Family law is concerned, PUVVADA Law Office volunteers their services at India House on every Monday between 4:00 pm- 5:00 pm and provides assistance via tele consultation. The first consultation is available for free and appointment can be scheduled by calling India House. The consultants are very much aware about the delicacy of your family matters and therefore are highly cooperative in maintaining your privacy. PUVVADA Law Office specializes in child support, child custody, divorce advice, modification of custody support, domestic violence, protective order, prenuptial, post nuptial and more.

Sareen Harris Health Medical Clinic

Sareen Harris Health Medical Clinic offers medical community service in Houston at affordable charges. Harris Health established its services at India House premises in 2014. The clinic began to provide essential healthcare services to patients who are unemployed or do not have access to medical insurance. Click here to know more about Harris Health. Medical issues like minor rashes, sinus pain or pressure, sore throat, headaches/migraines, urinary tract issues, diarrhea, etc. are addressed at the clinic.
